PITTS SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL - JAN-MAR 2011 SERIES

SUNDAY 16/01/2011 - YELLOWS 1 - 1 REDS

It was a wet night, and it didn't start off too well with the news that Dan was too tired to turn out. This meant we were down to 11 players. Luckily Tony called his cousin Alex who turned up to make it a six a side. The game started 6 against 4. Yellows were with George, Muz, Tony and Mert. The Reds fielding 6 players Terry, Koz, Dave, Vas, Yan and Evan. By the time Bambo and Alex turned up the Reds had taken a 2 goal lead. They eventually ran out winners by 2 goals. Muz who had not eaten all day was sapped of energy and after a couple of bursts was out of breath and went in goal. Producing a great diving save from a thunderous effort from Terry. The Australian boys were still in town and wanted to play together. We would like to take this oppurtunity to thank Yan as he is off back to the land of Oz on Friday. Hopefully it will still be there and not underwater. The Reds equalled the series with a a 2 goal win making it 1-1.

SUNDAY 09/01/2011 - YELLOWS 1 - 0 REDS

Happy New Year all !!!!!!!!!! Start of a New year and a new series. Strong words spoken by Dan O'leary on his facebook account (intersting with the Ryan Babel Tweet situation.) Quote: Same to to u sir, 2011 is the youngsters year im affraid ttho matex tel george an the boys the same pls! He followed this up on Sunday night claiming that they would be invincible in this series and not lose even one game. Due to a few absentees the teams were arranged. We welcomed our Australian representatives, they came in the shape and form of Evan and Yan. Terry was back from his injury. Paul (flu) missed his first ever game. Panos and Chris were also absent due to Personal Reasons and we send them our best wishes for the New Year and pray for a helthy New Year. Zar was no where to be seen. Yan was given a Red bib and Evan a yellow. Just before kick off there was a very late transfer negotiation which saw Bambo and Vas involved in a swap deal. Vas removing a Yellow bib and Putting on a Red and Bambo vice versa. The Yellow team consisted of George (Keeper - Captain), Muz (Forward), Tony (Midfield General), Evan (Wing Back), Mert (Supporting Forward), Bambo (Attacking back). The Red team Consisted of Dan (Captain - Midfielder), Terry (Forward), Dave (Midfielder), Koz (Keeper - Defender), Vas (Wing Back), Yan (Libero - Attacking Midfielder). Well the new series started off with a bang. Yellows kicked off and Tony slid the ball to Muz who cracked a fine effort that fittingly cracked off the post like a firework. It was not long before the Yellows took a 2 goal lead. The reds pulled back the deficit and managed to take a 2 goal lead of their own. This woke the Yellows up and they moved up a gear and what a move it was, as they reached a 12 goal lead at one point. The reds where left to face the humility of a double figure defeat. This perked them into action and they were now paying for pride. The acceptance of defeat was no replaced with the will of pride as they battled to finish the game with a 9 goal defeat. Battles were ensuing all over the pitch. Notably the Aussie brothers battling it out all over the pitch. There also seemed to be some bickering in the Yellow team with Tony and Evan and the different visions of how to play the game. George was in fine form and made a series of fine stops to deny the Reds on numerous occasions. Mert contributed with some fine efforts and goals. Some of the Yellows play was mesmerising, fluent passing football with good movement and a shot at goal for conclusion. Tony, Muz and Bambo with solid displays. The yellows were unable to resist. It was yet another first after Pauls absence and the deficit, a first defeat ever for Yan. He had never been on the losing team before. Evan proving to be Yans nemesis as he flew down the flanks and scored some good goals. Terry was under par his shooting left a lot to be desired. It was his first game back from injury and he was rusty. Dan was dejected man depicted by the fact that he did not lose his rag proved he knew they were beaten by the better team. Koz tried his best and Vas' lack of commitment was ever so evident obviously effected by his last minute transfer negotiations. The Yellows continued were they had left off and took first blood in the new series leading 1-0. Basically the Red team were Stuffed like a Christmas turkey !!!!
