PITTS SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL - OCT-DEC SERIES

SUNDAY 12/12/2010 - YELLOWS 5 - 2 REDS

It was a warmer night tonight. The layers were missing on most of the players there was no fog visibility was optimum. It was a close affair tonight, both teams putting in a good effort. It was tit for tat until the end where the Yellows managed to squeeze ahead and managed to maintain the victory. They won by 3 goals in the end. The Yellows were fielding a team with George in goal, and it was another solid display by him in goal (we just copy and paste this every week so should give you an idea on his consistency) he was again an integral part by keeping the Yellows in the game. Vas and Paul were holding the back again with occasional Balesque breaks into the opposition half. Paul driving a thumping shot into the top corner from near the half way line. Tony again was the holding midfield and was dropping in to defensive and attacking moves with quality, it seems that the structure is in place as they recorded yet another victory, Tony scored a couple of decent efforts. Mert had a good game and was the supporting forward occasinally running back to help the midfield and defence just like last week, he maanged to squeeze in a delightful effort at the near post at the start. Zar was here this week and he provided the neccessary steel at the back and finess going forward. Muz completed the Yellow team playing a forward role he was below par compared to last week.

The Reds comprised of Panos who played an all over the park role like last week, providing the experience for all their attacks. Chris who was mainly deployed as an attacking midfielder but had a good spell in goal also, we found out that Chris was on the Crystal Palace Youth Team books as a keeper. Koz was the defender who managed to be keeper for a while, although he had his moments he is not a George in goal. Dave was the engine again bursting forward from the back with great pace. Zak had a poor game and his failure to release the ball in some important moves proved to be costly for the reds. Bambo provided his usual industrial performance with neat touches and passes to great link up play. Dan back from his flu completed the Reds but even his appearance could not provide the vistory that has eluded the Reds for a while now.

Yellows ran out winners by 3 goals. The Yellows confirmed the Series win, they lead the series 5-2 with 1 week left.

Wilson Update:
We have some good news on the Wilson news, he was safely returned to us tonight. He looked a bit flat but some pampering and the relief of returning home should put some air into him for the last week next week.

Player Updates:
Terry (ankle) was missing this week. Chas (ankle) tried running for the bus again and tweaked his ankle. So no return in the near future for him.

SUNDAY 05/12/2010 - YELLOWS 4 - 2 REDS

It was another bitterly cold night tonight. The layers were on all the players again but the biggest difference was the fog. The weather was causing havoc with the players respirotary systems, it was difficult to breathe. The game started pretty much head to head and no team really taking a big advantage. The Yellows were fielding a team with George in goal, and it was another solid display by him in goal. Keeping the Yellows in the game. Vas and Paul were holding the back with occasional Balesque breaks into the opposition half. Tony was the holding midfield and was dropping in to defensive and attacking moves with quality. Providing an outlet with his sure fotted passing. Mert had a good game and was the supporting forward occasinally running back to help the midfield and defence. Muz completed the Yellow team playing a forward role and justifying it with some superb goals, he occasinally drifted into a midfield / defensive role.

The Reds comprised of Panos who played an all over the park role, providing the experience for all their attacks. Chris who was mainly deployed as an attacking midfielder but had a good spell in goal also. Koz was the ever industrious defender who managed to get into an attacking position but only to see his shot fly wide. Dave was the engine bursting forward from the back with great pace. Zak who was their best player on the night put in a Nasri like display and provided the goals that kept the Reds in it, and he worked George the most. Bambo provided his usual industrial performance with neat touches and passes to great link up play. But it was to not be enough as the Yellows ran out winners by 6 goals. So this Foggy and Misty Sunday night belong to the yellows as they garunteed a no lose situation in this series, they lead the series 4-2 with 2 weeks left. The other team were delayed so there was a chance to have some extra time but Panos was having none of it as he took off his bib and threw his toys out the pram as he walked off.

Wilson Update:
The player that took Wilson was at uni this week and was arriving to the game staright from there, as Wilson was at his house we still dont have Wilson back. Please spare a thought for Wilson this week hopefully we can be reunited with him again next week fingers crossed.

Player Updates:
Terry (ankle) and Dan (flu) were missing this week. Chas (ankle) could make a surprise return but we are hoping it will not be a hargreaves scenario. He has asked to be included as a standby player.

SUNDAY 28/11/2010 - YELLOWS 3 - 2 REDS

It was a bitterly cold night tonight. The layers were on all the players and at one stage we were blessed with snow. The weather was causing havoc as player were dropping like flies. Koz and Dave having car trouble but still making it in the nick of time. Players that did fall foul to the weather were Terry, Zar, Ilx and Zak.

The twelve that did make it set a high standard. The yellows took an early 6 goal lead which lead to the changing of teams. Vas replaced bambo and the reds were leading for the first time on the night. Cries of Vas you must be the weak link cried from around the ground. This just spurred Vas on as he hit blinding shot into the top corner. Dan was back and with the calming influence of Panos seemed to be quite calm despite the heavy defeat. It was good to welcome back Dave who had been missing for a few weeks due to mediacal reasons, lets just say his absence was definetly not caused by a lady friend. But the weeks he has missed showed as his lack of fitness and sharpness was apparent. Panos tried his best to guide his sinking ship but it proved to be in vain. The yellows were on fire, and the crisp passing in the middle between Tony and Paul proved too much for the reds. Muz was taking his chances and Mert was even like a new player in his new setup. Geroge was impressive as ever in goal and denied the Reds a few chances.

Wilson Update: The players that took Wilson forgot to bring him again. Please spare a thought for Wilson this week hopefully we can be reunited with him again next week fingers crossed.

SUNDAY 21/11/2010 - YELLOWS 2 - 2 REDS

Very much a game of two halves, the first half was the Reds taking a 6 goal lead but after a change of Ilx for Bambo the yellows made it 6 so it was all square. Big shout out to Terry who became a dad for the second time another boy. Congratulations buddy.

No Dano this week, reason for absence was that he was entertaining a lady friend. Not exactly what you want to hear but there you go.

SUNDAY 14/11/2010 - YELLOWS 2 - 2 REDS

It was close, but the Yelows scraped the victory with a single goal. This has levelled the series up. So all to play for at the mid way point. There was also some bad news, on the way up to the ground we realised we had lost the Jabulani. I felt like Tom Hanks in that flick were he gets stranded on the island, Jabu was like our Wilson. After the game though we were given a glimmer of hope as the team playing after us, one of their guys claimed he had taken Jabu. He said he would return him next week. fingers crossed.

Dan claimed it was a bit too rough for his liking this week. After a few challenges that he felt from behind his frustration spilled over as he picked up the ball and tried to boot it on to the A1. He was quick to apologise.

SUNDAY 07/11/2010 - YELLOWS 1 - 2 REDS

Great game battled out by both teams, the yellows taking the lead and the reds coming back to nick a draw at the end. Thanks to Dan for bringing Rob and Martin who made their debuts this week. Otherwise it would of been 5 a side and that would not have been too great.

SUNDAY 31/10/2010 - GEORGE 1 - 2 DANO

It was Halloween and the young boys looked frightened from the word go. It was even sides tonight with both teams fielding six players each. However it turned into a night to forget for Dan and his mighty merry men as they were humbled to rare thrashing straight out of the top draw. George and his oldies brigade cruised to a master class nine goal victory. Muz was on fire tonight and for that matter so was Terry, everything they hit seemed to be flying in and it was tit for tat in the first 10 - 15 minutes. but from there the sublime passing from Tony, Bambo and Zar and some great goals allowed it to become more tit for tat tat tat. However The youngsters who were fielding Vas in their ranks managed to put some nice football together and got their tits up. Dan, Paul, Mert and Adam allowing them to come back into the game. But George held firm in Goal and Koz was solid at the back to deny them a few times and sublime finishing in the other end allowed the oldies to increase their lead as the game went on. Even Vas was helpless in stopping the flowing football on display. We all know what happens when the oldies start winning and like clockwork the bickering started in the youngsters end, it was fitting for chilly halloween night as it gave the effect of cackling witches trying to cook up a new potion. But all the magic was on display by the oldies.

UPDATES:
Hey Muzzy,

Just read the write up...I think you should have mentioned vass cheeky chip (muz: you mean his rocket into the top corner ???) of george when he was tying his boot laces. Also, your doing yourself a diservice with the scoring, I would have given you , bambo and zar a 9 for that game. The cheeky feint and than skip pass mert on the left side to shot a cross the goal into the net was sublime.

Also, if you take our marks against Dans team, it does not reflect a 9 - 0 Drubbing. I would suggest dropping all thier points by 1 at least and leaving Terry with an 8.

SUNDAY 24/10/2010 - GEORGE 0 - 2 DANO

It was another freezing evening in North London. Absentees this week were Ilx and Koz. It was a hard fought contest with Dano now back at the helm helping his youngsters to overcome the overtures of the oldies. They eventually ran out winners by 2 goals. There were some new faces this week to cover the absent players these included, Johnny and Chrissy. Terry was on fine form as everything he struck seemed to go in. George was also back after his airport diversion but even he could not prevent an eventual defeat. It was before a ball had been kicked when the controversy got under way. Vas claiming that Muz was very poor last week, after deliberation with other team mates it was decided that Vas was out of order and this resulted in him being hounded out the team. Unlike Ferguson there was not going to be any forgiving here. So Vas started his new career with the youngsters helping to bolster their defence. Muz however suffering with a bout of flu must of been affected by ther critiscm as his touch was off and he put in a poor display for his standards. It was good to see Dano back barking away at his players and producing a fine display to lead his team to victory.

SUNDAY 17/10/2010 - GEORGE 0 - 1 DANO (TERRY)

It was the beginning of a new 10 game series. During the end of the last series discussion were made regarding the transfer options of a few players to make the team more balanced. However with both George and Dano missing it was another makeshift week. George was at airport duty, and Dano still had not recovered from his mysterious ankle injury. With Tony Arpino also away and Daves medical issues and Panos and Chris on medical duty the boys struggled to even get 11 players. With some new faces however the numbers were made up. Zar, Adam and Les were vying for permenant places to replace the wafflers. It was a chilly night and Terrys team win by 2 goals. It meant a makeshift week was in the offing with a 6 against 5 scenario. The youngsters asked that the pensioners should have 6 men to begin with. So it was Koz, Vas, Bambo, Zar, Muz and Ilx. The youngsters were bouyed by their new transfers, Les and Adam, they also boasted Paul, Terry and Mert. The pensioners took an early 6 goal lead and it looked like it would be a non contest. So with 15 minutes gone Koz switched to the other side. This seem to make the teams more even. Although the pensioners held their own fatigue caught up with them near the end and the Youngsters took a 2 goal lead which they protected till the final whistle. Ilx had another storming show and probably was the MOM. Koz was mainly in goal and made some great saves for both teams.
