PHASE 3

TUESDAY 08/03/2011 - FRIDAY 01/04/2011

WEEKEND
DAVID LUIZ and Luis Suarez showed again they could be the best buys of the transfer window. Star man defender Luiz headed a late opener in Chelsea's 2-0 defeat of fellow title outsiders Manchester City - Fernando Torres once more failing to break his Blues duck. And Suarez matched that goal and top-performer double as Liverpool won 2-0 at Sunderland - strike-partner Andy Carroll shining but still missing out on the scoresheet as he nears full fitness. Centre-back Gary Cahill - in the England squad alongside Carroll - landed the man-of-the-match bonus as Bolton kept leaders Manchester United at bay until substitute Dimitar Berbatov's 88th minute winner. On-loan Wayne Bridge scooped a handy haul for Dream Team bosses - a Star Man show as West Ham held Tottenham 0-0. And another ex-England left-back, West Brom's Nicky Shorey, took the individual plaudits at the Hawthorns, despite Arsenal roaring back for a 2-2 draw. Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant underlined his impressive move back from Spain to the Premier League, often tormenting Newcastle and poaching the second goal in a 4-0 home success.

MONDAY 28/02/2011 - MONDAY 07/03/2011

WEEKEND
FRANK LAMPARD landed a bucket of points on Chelsea's trip to the seaside. Lamps bagged two goals in the Blues' 3-1 win over Blackpool - and took home a 9 and the Star Man bonus to boot. John Terry also found the net, while on-loan star Jason Puncheon grabbed a consolation for the Tangerines. On Sunday, Dirk Kuyt scooped the match-ball against Man United - but he went home empty-handed in the Star Man stakes. And that's because Liverpool's £23million striker Luis Suarez pipped his pal to the bonus in the Reds' astonishing 3-1 victory. Kuyt hit a hat-trick to sink United before Javier Hernandez snatched a late consolation for the Red Devils. Yet it was the sparkling performance of Suarez that set tongues wagging as the former Ajax man clocked a superb 9. At Molineux, another hitman dazzled and saw a team-mate nab the Star Man award. Jermain Defoe was back in the goals as his double lit up Spurs' dramatic 3-3 draw with Wolves. Yet Luka Modric stole Defoe's thunder with a thrilling 8-rated outing that landed the Croat top dog status. At the Emirates, Arsenal's cannons fell silent thanks to the heroics of Simon Mignolet. The Sunderland stopper was more than a match for everything the Gunners threw at him in the north London stalemate Gary Cahill came back to haunt Aston Villa as the Bolton star hit a deadly double. Cahill, sold for £5million by former Villa boss Martin O'Neill, levelled twice before Niko Klasnic slotted home a dramatic winner. The Trotters looked out of it when Ashley Young won a penalty with Villa 2-1 up. But the England winger missed, Cahill equalised and Klasnic finished the job. Elsewhere, Youssouf Mulumbu, Damien Duff, David Silva, Mikel Arteta and Manuel da Costa won chief billing in the weekend's other games.

MONDAY 21/02/2011 - SUNDAY 27/02/2011

WEEKEND
BEN FOSTER was the toast of Wembley after his Carling Cup heroics. The Brum stopper was in sizzling form as the Blues pulled off a final stunner against Arsenal. Nikola Zigic put Alex McLeish's men ahead before Robin van Persie levelled. But disaster struck when a Wojciech Szczesny blooper allowed Obafemi Martins to nab a late winner. And Foster, who conjured up a string of superb saves, took the man-of-the-match award - and the Dream Team Star Man bonus. At DW Stadium, Man United's Pea shooter killed off Wigan - and hit the DT bullseye. Javier 'Chicarito' Hernandez struck twice in United's 4-0 win over the Latics. And that was enough to land the Mexican hotshot the top dog plaudits. Wayne Rooney was also on the scoresheet and rated a 7 - yet could be in hot water after an elbow row involving James McCarthy. Damien Duff put the smile back on Mark Hughes' face as Fulham grabbed a point against Man City. And the Irish winger had his DT bosses laughing with a Star Man turn at Eastlands. You know how it is - you wait seven months for a Star Man award then two come along at once. Thomas Hitzlsperger made his West Ham debut a week ago and stole the show against Burnley. And the fit-again Boleyn midfielder was at it again on Sunday when he dazzled in his side's 3-1 win over Liverpool. Elsewhere, Ashley Young, Mikel Arteta and Jamie O'Hara were the kings of their games.

SATURDAY 05/02/2011 - SUNDAY 20/02/2011

WEEKEND
WISHFUL Dream Team bosses were left shouting at "Sign him up!" at Crawley hero Kyle McFadzean. The Town star was a rock in the centre of defence with skipper Pablo Mills and took the Star Man honours at Old Trafford. He eclipsed Manchester United's big guns - including Wayne Rooney, who scored just 5 - with a stunning 9. Yet not even the most shrewd of DT bosses would have cashed in on the non-League star's brilliant show. At Eastlands, Patrick Vieira rolled back the years with a deadly double against Notts County. The Man City veteran scored twice and Carlos Tevez, Edin Dzeko and Micah Richards one each in a 5-0 FA Cup mauling. Arsenal were hit by a late leveller at Brisbane Road as Leyton Orient caused a fifth-round shock. Arsene Wenger's leading lights all failed to shine and only Alex Song and Bacary Sagna scored above 6. Yet there is one piece of good news for Dream Teams with Gunners players: They've got to do it all again in a replay next month! Chelsea's tilt at a historic hat-trick of FA Cups were derailed in a penalty shootout with Everton. And it was spot-kick hero Tim Howard who took the Star Man plaudits after shutting the Blues out for 180 minutes. At Birmingham, Keith Fahey was the top dog and at Fulham Fabrice Muamba stole the show. And Jermaine Pennant and Jamie O'Hara were the kings of the weekend's other games.

SATURDAY 05/02/2011 - FRIDAY 11/02/2011

WEEKEND
KEVIN DOYLE hit a perfect 10 as Man United were fed to the Wolves. Doyle, who bagged the winner, struck a rare top mark as the Molineux men ripped United's unbeaten record to shreds. The striker's rating was the same as Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov - COMBINED. Eight of Mick McCarthy's starting XI picked up 9s, while Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick could only manage 3s. In fact, the only Wolves player who flopped was 3-rated Sylvain Ebanks-Blake. And he used to play for United! Fernando Torres finally found out what all the fuss was about over Jamie Carragher. Carra kept his old pal quiet to bag the Star Man bonus in Liverpool's sensational 1-0 victory over Chelsea. Torres could only muster a 5 on his Blues bow. Cheik Tiote hit a screamer to level it up for Newcastle - who had been FOUR down against Arsenal. Robin van Persie struck two early goals as the Gunners raced into a 4-0 lead. But Tiote hit a late equaliser in football's most astonishing ever draw - and was rewarded with the top dog plaudits. At Eastlands, Carlos Tevez grabbed a birthday hat-trick - and laded the Star Man gift. Niko Kranjcar came off the bench to nab Spurs three points against Bolton. And his last-gasp heroics earned him a rare Star Man bonus too. Louis Saha hit four goals in a sizzling 9 rating for Everton - and took the top man points to boot. And Danny Murphy, Jermaine Pennant, James McCarthy and Roger Johnson were the heroes in the other top-flight games.
